Is Ahnsahnghong in the Bible?
May 17, 2023
The World Mission Society Church of God preaches that Christ Ahnsahnghong is the Second Coming Christ who fulfilled the prophecies of the Bible. However, since there are many Christians who have not heard about this before, they are often confused and ask, “Is the name Ahnsahnghong in the Bible?” Since the name Ahnsahnghong is not directly written in the Bible, they may find it difficult to understand and believe in the new name of Ahnsahnghong. So how can we know that Christ Ahnsahnghong is truly the Second Coming Christ if His name is not written in the Bible?
Why is the name Ahnsahnghong not written in the Bible?
When we look at the Bible now, we can see the name of Jesus mentioned many times. Since Christians can clearly see the name Jesus written in the Bible, they can recognize it as the name of Christ. However, when Jesus came to the earth around 2,000 years ago, was his name already written in the Bible?
The New Testament, which contains the name “Jesus” many times, was written after His coming. The New Testament contains the details of the life and works of Jesus, the truths he taught, and the work of the apostles who preached this truth. When Jesus came, only the Old Testament existed. In the Old Testament there is not a single occurrence of the name “Jesus.”
When we read the Old Testament, we can find many prophecies about the One to come as the Saviour (Christ). But His name is never mentioned.
Isaiah 7:14 Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel.
Here, Jesus, who was born to the virgin Mary in fulfillment of this prophecy (Mark 1:18-23), is referred to only by the title “Immanuel” meaning “God with us.” In the following prophecy, also written by Isaiah, it is said that God will be born as a Son, but His name is not mentioned.
Isaiah 9:6 For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Jesus’ titles were mentioned clearly, “Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace,” but again, there is no mention of the name “Jesus” in the prophecies about His coming.
In fact, in the Old Testament it is written repeatedly that we can be saved only by the name of God the Father Jehovah. Despite this, the apostles were able to recognize Jesus as the Saviour; the true Christ.
How did the apostles recognize Jesus?
Since the name of Christ Jesus was not mentioned in the Old Testament, how is it that the apostles who followed Jesus were able to recognize that He was the true Christ prophesied to come? It was because, even though His name was not directly mentioned, He fulfilled all the prophecies about the Christ who was to come, written in the Old Testament.
John 5:39 You study the Scriptures diligently because you think that in them you have eternal life. These are the very Scriptures that testify about me [Jesus], yet you refuse to come to me to have life.
Jesus Himself explained that the Scriptures, that is, the prophecies of the Bible, testify about Him. In other words, we can recognize the Christ only as the one who fulfills the prophecies written in the Bible.
The Apostles, too, used the words of prophecy to explain that Jesus was the Christ.
Acts 17:2-3 As was his custom, Paul went into the synagogue, and on three Sabbath days he reasoned with them from the Scriptures, explaining and proving that the Messiah had to suffer and rise from the dead. “This Jesus I am proclaiming to you is the Messiah,” he said.
Acts 8:34-35 The eunuch asked Philip, “Tell me, please, who is the prophet talking about, himself or someone else?” Then Philip began with that very passage of Scripture and told him the good news about Jesus.
Even Jesus Himself used the prophecies to explain about who He was.
Luke 24:27 And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he [Jesus] explained to them what was said in all the Scriptures concerning himself.
The evidence that Jesus is the Christ is not that His name was written in the Bible. At the time of His coming, it was not yet recorded. The only way to recognize Jesus as the Christ is through the prophecies He fulfilled (about the Christ) found in the Bible.
How can we recognize Christ Ahnsahnghong?
Since the name “Ahnsahnghong” is not directly written in the Bible, how can we recognize that he is the Second Coming Christ? It is in the same way that the apostles recognized Jesus; through the prophecies about the Second Coming Christ written in the Bible.
Although the name Ahnsahnghong cannot be found in the Bible, Christ Ahnsahnghong perfectly fulfilled all the amazing prophecies of the Bible just as Jesus did. Christ Ahnsahnghong is the only One who was prophesied to come in these last days as the Second Coming Christ for our salvation.
If we want to receive the salvation He brought, we must be like the Apostles who diligently followed Christ Jesus. We must learn the teachings of Christ Ahnsahnghong at the World Mission Society Church of God which He established.
It is wrong to think that we cannot believe in Christ Ahnsahnghong because His name is not written in the Bible. Instead we must strive to learn the prophecies He fulfilled. In doing so we can easily recognize that Christ Ahnsahnghong is our Saviour, and in doing so, we can know the way of salvation.
