The Wedding Banquet and God the Mother
May 24, 2022
There is a secret hidden within the parable of the wedding banquet spoken by Jesus Christ 2,000 years ago. As the parables of Jesus Christ reveal the secrets of the Kingdom of Heaven, we must discover the secret hidden within the wedding banquet to receive salvation.
Jesus’ Parable about a Wedding Banquet
Jesus Christ delivered many of his teachings through parables. One of the parables was about the wedding banquet. What was the teaching that Jesus wanted to deliver through this parable?
Matthew 13:10 “Why do you speak to the people in parables?”He replied, “Because the knowledge of the secrets of the kingdom of heaven has been given to you..”.
First of all, Jesus spoke in parables to reveal the secrets of the kingdom of heaven. Then, what was the secret contained in the parable of the wedding banquet?
Matthew 22:1-3 The kingdom of heaven is like a king who prepared a wedding banquet…”
Jesus compared the kingdom of heaven to a wedding banquet. Then why did He do so? What secret is contained in this parable?
There is a bride in every wedding banquet
A wedding banquet is a reception held after the ceremony in which a bride and bridegroom are united in marriage with the presence of the invited guests. The bride and bridegroom invite the guests to share the joy of their union.
Then, why is the kingdom of heaven described as a wedding banquet? It is because in the Kingdom of heaven there is also a Bride, a Bridegroom, and guests.
Throughout the gospel books, Jesus let us know that he is the bridegroom, and that God’s saints are referred to as the guests who are invited to the Kingdom of Heaven.
Matthew 2:19 Jesus answered, “How can the guests of the bridegroom fast while he is with them?
When asked why His disciples were not fasting, while John’s disciples and the disciples 0f the the Pharisees were doing so, Jesus responded in a peculiar way. Jesus compared Himself to a bridegroom, and His disciples to guests at a wedding banquet.
The secret of the parable is the bride
Jesus mentioned both the Bridegroom and the guests in the parable. Through the Bible, we can clearly see that they represent Jesus (God the Father) and the saints respectively. However, there is no mention of the bride. Can a wedding banquet ever take place without a bride? No, it cannot. Then why did Jesus not mention the Bride in his parable? It is because the Bride is the secret in the parable of the wedding banquet. Just as a bride appears towards the end of a wedding banquet, the bride of Jesus is prophesied to appear in the last days when Jesus comes to the earth for a second time.
The Bride is God the Mother
Examining all the records of the New Testament, we can see that the bride did not appear 2,000 years ago at Jesus’ first coming. She is meant to appear in the last days.
Revelation 19:7 …For the wedding of the Lamb (2nd coming Christ) has come, and his bride has made herself ready.
The bride appears in the last days in the time of the second coming Christ (Lk 21:28). Now the wedding banquet that could not be completed at Jesus’ first coming can take place because the bride has appeared. Who is the bride?
Revelation 21:9-10 “…Come, I will show you the bride, the wife of the Lamb.”… showed me the Holy City, Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God.”
The bride is the Heavenly Jerusalem. Who does the Heavenly Jerusalem indicate? And what relationship do the saints have with her?
Galatians 4:26 “But the Jerusalem that is above is free, and she is our mother.”
The Bride, the Heavenly Jerusalem, is our Mother. Just as we have our Father in heaven, we also have our Mother in heaven who is God the Mother.
Now we fully understand the secret Jesus was trying to reveal to us. Just as there is a Bride, a bridegroom, and guests in a wedding banquet. In the same way, there is God the Father, God the Mother, and the saints of God in the Kingdom of Heaven.
As the bridegroom and bride, God the Father and God the Mother are inviting us to the Kingdom of Heaven.
Revelation 22:17 – The Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” And let the one who hears say, “Come!” Let the one who is thirsty come; and let the one who wishes take the free gift of the water of life.
The World Mission Society Church of God hopes all mankind can go to the Kingdom of heaven by receiving the water of life from God the Father and God the Mother.
