What is the Water of Life?
November 14, 2022
The Bible mentions the water of life or living water many times, but what is the water of life? And how can we receive it?
To maintain our life and for our bodies to function normally, we must consume water regularly. Our bodies are composed of around 70% water; we feel thirsty if we lose just 1-2% of the water in our bodies, and if we lose just 12% it may be fatal. From this, we can easily understand the importance of water. Just as water is essential for our physical life, it is also essential for our spiritual life. The living water mentioned in the Bible is essential for us to receive eternal life.
John 4:10-14 Jesus answered her, “If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him and he would have given you living water.”
“Sir,” the woman said, “you have nothing to draw with and the well is deep. Where can you get this living water? …”
Jesus answered, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”
Jesus taught a Samaritan woman the value and purpose of the living water given by God. Although we thirst again after drinking physical water, if we drink the spiritual water given by God we will never thirst again but will rather live eternally. Thus, the water of life has the purpose of giving us eternal life.
Who gives the living water?
If we want to live eternally in the Kingdom of Heaven, we need to receive the water of life. In order to receive this living water, however, we must first know who the source of the living water is and go to them to receive it. In each age, it is only God who can give the water of life to thirsty souls.
In the age of the Father, that is, in the Old Testament times, God the Father Jehovah was the source of living water.
Jeremiah 2:12-13 “Be appalled at this, you heavens, and shudder with great horror,” declares the Lord [Jehovah]. “My people have committed two sins: They have forsaken me, the spring of living water, and have dug their own cisterns, broken cisterns that cannot hold water.”
If we lived in the Old Testament times, we would need to come to Jehovah to receive the blessing of eternal life as only He was the source of the living water in that time period. Similarly, in the New Testament times, God the Son Jesus was the only source of living water.
John 7:37-38 On the last and greatest day of the festival, Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, “Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.”
Thus, if we lived in the New Testament times (around 2000 years ago) we would need to come to Jesus to receive the water of life. Then what about today? To whom do we need to come to receive the water of life?
Revelation 22:17 The Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” And let the one who hears say, “Come!” Let the one who is thirsty come; and let the one who wishes take the free gift of the water of life.
In the book of Revelation, written about the times in which we now live, the Ones calling us to receive the water of life are the Spirit and the Bride. Then who are They?
Who are the Spirit and the Bride?
Since they are giving the water of life, which leads to eternal life, They must be God. Only God can give us eternal life.
Revelation 21:6-7 He said to me: “It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. To the thirsty I will give water without cost from the spring of the water of life. Those who are victorious will inherit all this, and I will be their God and they will be my children.
According to the trinity, the Spirit is God the Father. Then, who is the Bride? She is God since she gives the water of life, eternal life, and She is the Bride of God the Father. Therefore, She must be God the Mother.
To receive eternal life through the living water, we must come to God the Father and God the Mother who are the Spirit and the Bride. God the Father and God the Mother are in the World Mission Society Church of God and They are calling all people to come to Them to receive life.
Without finding a source of water on a hot day, we cannot help but suffer physically. In the same way, if we do not find the source of living water in these days when disasters are rampant in the world, we cannot help but suffer spiritually. So why wait? Come to the World Mission Society Church of God and receive the living water your soul thirsts for from God the Father and God the Mother and let’s go to heaven together!
